Hand-held portable survey meters are widely used for the detection of radiation as they are light, portable and easy to use. These meters have excellent sensitivity as they concentrate on the detection of the radiation rather than the identification of the radioactive material.
The Rados RDS-200 Meter is an excellent multipurpose radiation meter for a wide range of applications. It was designed for situations where accurate measurements at high and low dose rate levels are of importance and covers a dose rate range from 0.01µSv/h to 10 Sv/h. With a robust IP 67 casing, RF and NEMP shielding, an operational temperature range of -30° to +55° C, data logging and military specification connectors, the RDS-200 is rugged and reliable. It can be rapidly combined with a range of alpha, beta and gamma probes for additional functionality.
The Rados RDS-30 Radiation Survey meter is a compact, lightweight, portable and versatile gamma survey meter with a dose rate range from 0.01µSv/h to 100 mSv/h. The meter is cased in a robust, yellow housing with a large and clear display and single push button operation. With a 480 data point dose histogram and alarm record facility and infrared download facility, the RDS-30 is suited for a radiation survey in field conditions by personnel in full PPE.
The Rados RDS-80 surface contamination meter is a versatile contamination detector based on a 2" pancake end window GM detector. It has a range of 1 to 100 000 counts per second which can be configured with various nuclide calibration coefficients to give activity ranges from 1 to 100 000 Bq/cm2. The meter is cased in a robust, yellow housing with a large and clear display and single push button operation. With a 480 data point dose histogram and alarm record facility and infrared download facility, the RDS-30 is suited for a radiation survey in field conditions by personnel in full PPE.
The RDS 30 and RDS 80 are available in an emergency response kit with space in the case for spare batteries, dosimeters and other essentials.
JFIMS also supply a range of portable detection instruments which use spectroscopy to identify the isotope detected
