Qualified Radiation Monitoring Systems

The continuous in-process and environmental monitoring of radiation is a critical element of a nuclear plant's safety case to operate. The Ramsys Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) has excellent productivity, reliability, maintainability and longevity and is the world-leader with over 10000 channels in operation worldwide.

Within the Ramsys product range there are monitors for gamma and neutron dose rate, alpha and beta particulates, iodine, noble gases, 16N and neutron flux. A wide range of sampling and measurement systems for liquids, gases and steam are available. Monitors can be mobile, fixed or integrated into the plant. Monitors can also be qualified for operation during and after seismic or nuclear accident events.

ABPM203P

31

The ABPM203P is a SIL 2 portable alpha-beta particulate monitor. It is designed for continuous air monitoring and display of alpha and beta activity. Its small and light weight sensor allows this monitor to function locally next to the respiratory tract of the workers. Built-in visual and audible alarms indicate whenever threshold limits are exceded. The monitor incorporates a number of class-leading patented design features which facilitate the reliable and robust Radon/Thoron compensation algorithms and the spectrometry capability allows immediate and easy isotope identification in case of alarm. The monitor can operate stand-alone or built into a larger radiation monitoring system.

GIM 204K

32

The GIM 204K is a compact and reliable gamma monitor with a wide measurement range. This monitor is available with or without a display and local signalling, as a fixed or a portable monitor and with either an integral or an external detector. The monitor is designed for safety-related applications as a gamma-interlock monitor and is SIL 2 under IEC 61508.
