A passive dosimeter absorbs radiation over time and can quantify the absorbed dose when it is processed or "read". The DIS-1 pairs classical ion-chamber detection technology with an electronic storage chip and delivers a passive dosimeter of unrivalled radiometric performance. The DIS-1 covers the entire Hp (10) and Hp (0.07) photon and beta energies without any compromises. The wide dose and energy range, the ability to operate in pulsed fields and the performance at high dose rates make DIS-1 an ideal device for all kinds of radiation dosimetry applications. Furthermore, reading the DIS-1 is simply a matter of inserting the badge into a reader, a process which can be repeated as often as required. Unlike the majority of passive dosimeters, reading the dosimeter does not delete the accumulated dose so the same device can be used for routine dose management as well as monthly or quarterly record-keeping.
The DIS-1 is supported by a range of readers which can be operated on a stand-alone basis or part of a dosimetry management system.
The EDIS-1 is a version of the DIS-1 which is designed for use as an environmental dosimeter. It delivers the same radiometric advantages whilst measuring the H*(10) dose.
