With over 400 000 units sold, Mirion personal electronic dosimeters are market leaders with a products suitable for a wide range of applications. Dosimeters are designed to measure the dose uptake for personnel during operational tasks.
Dosimeters designed for Civil Defence
The DMC 2000 features flat energy response to X-rays and gamma field from 50keV to 6MeV and linear response to dose rate fields from natural background up to more than 10 Sv/h.
The DMC 2000X extends the energy range of the DMC 2000S to 20keV.
The DMC 2000XB detects gamma and X-rays from 6MeV to 20 keV and also beta radiation from 60 keV to 2.5 MeV. The dosimeter displays and can be set to alarm for both Hp(10) and Hp (0.07) values.
The DMC 2000GN offers gamma and neutron dose rate in real time. The neutron detector covers a full neutron energy range.
The CTM 2000 upgrades the DMC 2000 series to a teledosimeter. The CTM 2000 clamshells around the DMC2000 dosimeter and transmits dose data via a 900 MHz transmitter. The data can be collected by a receiver placed up to 1800 m away.
All of the DMC 2000 series dosimeters feature pass-by data exchange which in combination with a comprehensive range of fixed and portable dosimeter readers gives unequalled operational flexibility.
The Rados RAD 60 is popular with UK fire brigades and features a flat energy response from 60keV to 6MeV, a better than ±15% linear response up to 3 Sv/h and simple operation through a single push button
Military dosimeters
The MGP Instruments SOR/R is a ruggedise, waterproof military dosimeter for battlefield use and meets all applicable UK and NATO standards. The radiometric specification of the dosimeter is identical to the DMC 2000S. The SOR/T combines the ambient dosimetry capability of the SOR/R with tactical neutron and gamma dose measurements. In common with the members of the DMC 2000 series, these dosimeters benefit from the pass-by data exchange, which allows the dosimeters to be read through battlefield clothing.
ReadersDosimeter readers are used to upload alarm thresholds and settings and download operational dose data for compilation, analysis and storage. Readers also allow a detailed examination of the dose uptake history stored in the dosimeter which can be used to retrospectively investigate incidents. Readers vary between a simple reader head which can be plugged into a computer through to standalone readers which have in-built processing capability. The readers can be either a fixed installation or portable. The XOM/R and XOM/T readers are ruggedised and meet all UK and NATO military specifications.
Software
Software for dosimetry extends from a simple Maintenance and System Setup utility which is supplied with a reader through to comprehensive dose management databases suitable for recording and managing the dose records of unlimited individuals. The Dosifast software is particularly designed for the requirements of emergency response teams. For example, it has a feature which has enables a group of dosimeters to be set up so they require a single button press to instantaneously activate according to the preset settings. In the event of an emergency, the dosimeters can be activated and handed straight to the individuals responding. At the end of the incident, when the responders return their dosimeters the data can be transferred to their individual dose records when the dosimeter is read.
